AMC – 1000 Planning Governance

AMC – 1000 Planning Governance

Effective project planning requires more than just technically sound planning. Many organizations realize that problems usually arise not from a lack of planning expertise, but from missing processes, unclear roles, and insufficient agreements. Without clear governance, multiple versions, conflicting assumptions, and divergent reports can continue to coexist.

This master class demonstrates how organizations can establish a coherent system of responsibilities, standards, and decision-making processes. Participants learn how to improve the reliability of planning information and ensure a single, shared foundation for project management.

Why this master class?

Planning Governance is popular because more and more organizations are recognizing that sustainable improvement cannot be achieved solely through better software or additional planners. Clear rules are needed to define who is authorized to make changes, which schedule takes precedence, how baselines are established, which KPIs are used, and how project teams and contractors report and collaborate.

The master class helps organizations replace fragmented work practices with a manageable process in which ownership, quality, and decision-making are explicitly defined.

What will you learn?

The masterclass covers how an organization can establish and ensure a practical governance model for planning. Participants will examine how decision-making authority, baseline procedures, change processes, status dates, progress measurements, KPI definitions, and reporting cycles align with one another. Common problems will be identified, including multiple versions of the same plan, conflicting progress figures, a non-uniform WBS, unclear responsibilities, and a weak link between planning and costs.

For EPC, energy, offshore, and infrastructure projects, the course specifically addresses the management of dozens of interlinked sub-plans. Participants learn how to combine central frameworks with the responsibilities of disciplines, suppliers, and contractors, so that not every party creates its own version of the truth. The course also covers escalation, assurance, interface management, and monitoring the integrated forecast.
